KEMPTVILLE — Behind the wheel of a stolen van, the intoxicated suspect drove erratically northbound, sideswiping a stationary vehicle before smashing into a telephone pole, 9 p.m. last night in Kemptville.
Grenville County OPP officers arrested the male driver at the Oct. 5 crash scene on Van Buren Street. The van had been stolen from a Kemptville residence, according to the detachment.
Police say that Christopher David Edward White, 36, has been charged with:
- Driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol;
- Driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol;
- Two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance;
- Theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 6.
