MORRISBURG — A head-on collision has closed a portion of County Rd. 2 in Morrisburg this morning.
Two wrecked vehicles were spotted near the Merkley Street intersection, with an SD&G OPP police cruiser also on scene.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles and both were sent hospital with injuries described as serious but non-life threatening.
Preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 6:50 a.m., the adult male driver of a westbound passenger vehicle crossed into the east lane on County Rd. 2, colliding head-on with another passenger vehicle, according to the SD&G OPP.
Local officers, assisted by OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI), continue to process the scene.
This article was updated to reflect details from the constable and a recent press release from the detachment.
Update: This article was updated to eliminate reference to an air ambulance. SD&G Const. Tylor Copeland says that method of transport ultimately wasn’t used, although initial accounts from the scene gave the impression that a chopper had been dispatched.
