Impaired charges in S. Dundas
SOUTH DUNDAS — A Port Hope man faces impaired driving charges after police stopped and arrested him on Highway 401 in South Dundas.
Officers intercepted the vehicle at 3:44 p.m. on Oct. 27.
Ryan Fortin, 35, was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on Nov. 14, according to the SD&G OPP.
Impaired charges in S. Stormont
SOUTH DUNDAS — A single-vehicle car crash on Highway 401 during the wee hours of the morning on Highway 401 led police to locate and charge the driver a short distance from the scene.
The SD&G OPP says that officers responded to the incident at 1:21 a.m., arresting Ryan Cromie, 27, of South Dundas. Accused of impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident, he was released and scheduled to appear Nov. 9 in Cornwall court.
NORTH GLENGARRY — The SD&G OPP responded to the reported break-in and theft of food and tobacco items from a County Rd. 43 business.
The incident occurred sometime overnight on Oct. 27. Officers were dispatched to the scene at just after 1:20 a.m.
SOUTH STORMONT — Three Highway 401 motorists travelling through South Stormont saw their vehicles immediately impounded and drivers’ licences seized for a week, under the excessive-speed provisions of Ontario’s stunt-driving legislation. The on-the-spot penalties apply when a motorist goes 50 km/h or more above the posted limit.
SD&G OPP officers imposed the rule against:
- A 39-year-old man from North York, clocked at 154 km/h in an 80 km/h construction zone at 8 p.m. on Oct. 28;
- A 48-year-old man from Montreal, clocked at 143 km/h in an 80 km/h construction zone at 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 28;
- A 24-year-old South Dundas man, clocked at 154 km/h in a 100 km/h zone at 8:34 a.m. on Oct. 27.
