Single-vehicle collision on Belanger Rd. leads to impaired charge

NORTH DUNDAS — A single-vehicle collision drew police to Belanger Rd., where officers arrested a woman for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Police responded to the Nov. 10 scene involving a passenger vehicle at just after 7 p.m.

The SD&G OPP say that Judith Brennan, 38, faces charges related to impaired driving.

She was released and is scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on Dec. 5.

Excessive speeds

SOUTH STORMONT — Two Montreal drivers had their high-speed Highway 401 journeys abruptly halted in Ontario when police seized their drivers’ licenses and impounded their cars for seven days, under Stunt Driving provisions in the Highway Traffic Act.

The on-the-spot penalties apply to drivers charged with exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h or more.

A 39-year-old man was clocked at 154 km/h as he drove the 401 through South Stormont shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.

A 24-year-old man hit 177 km/h on the South Dundas portion of the highway on Nov. 13. Officers pulled him over just before 1 p.m.

North Stormont domestic 

NORTH STORMONT — A 33-year-old Spencerville man has been charged with assault after a Nov. 15 domestic situation at a North Stormont residence. SD&G OPP officers responded to the address shortly before 5 p.m. and concluded the man had assaulted his girlfriend.

He was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on Dec. 12.

North Glengarry domestic

NORTH GLENGARRY — A 51-year-old man from Rigaud, Quebec, stands accused of mischief.

The charge stems from damage caused to a victim’s belongings during a Nov. 15 domestic situation. SD&G OPP officers responded to the North Glengarry residential address shortly before 5:40 p.m.

The accused was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on Dec. 12.
