Three single-vehicle collisions, three impaired driving charges

SDG — Three single-vehicle collisions, three motorists accused of impaired-driving-related charges: That’s the upshot for the involved drivers after police investigated a trio of similar incidents between Nov. 22 and Nov. 26.

Police say that Cornelis Nell, 39, of Osgoode was arrested and charged after a single-vehicle collision Nov. 26 on Armstrong Rd., North Dundas. Officers responded to the scene at 4:36 a.m. Nell was released and scheduled to appear Jan. 9 in Morrisburg court.

Police say that Theodore Sheldrick, 74, of Metcalfe was arrested and charged after a single-vehicle collision Nov. 24 on County Rd. 3, North Dundas. Officers responded to the scene at 9:09 p.m. Sheldrick was released and scheduled to appear Jan. 9 in Morrisburg court.

Police say that Karen Desnoyers, 52, of South Stormont was arrested and charged with failing or refusing to provide a sample. Her charge followed a Nov. 22 single-vehicle collision on Myers Rd., South Stormont. Officers responded to the scene at 2:54 p.m. Sheldrick was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on Dec. 14.

S. Stormont resident charged with impaired in S. Glengarry

SOUTH GLENGARRY — SD&G OPP officers arrested a South Stormont man after intercepting a vehicle Nov. 22 on Pineridge Rd., South Glengarry.

The driver, who was stopped at just after 10 p.m., was under the influence of alcohol, according to the detachment.

Police say that Shawn Strachan, 43, faces charges related to impaired driving.

He was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on Dec. 14.

72-year-old breaches of conditions in S. Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers arrested a 72-year-old Cornwall man after he was reported breaching his release conditions on Headline Rd., South Stormont. Police responded to the Nov. 24 scene at 9:25 a.m.

He’s charged with: Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts); and Fail to comply with Recognizance.

The man was held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall the next day.

Man attempts to disarm officer

SOUTH STORMONT — A 31-year-old Cornwall man stands accused of trying to disarm a police officer following his arrest for contravening earlier release conditions.

The incident unfolded Nov. 26 when the man was reported for breaching his conditions on Myers Rd., South Stormont. Officers responded to the scene at 2:34 p.m. While in custody, the accused became resistant and attempted to disarm an officer.

Jonathan Lauzon, 31, is charged with: Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts); Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Probation Order; and Disarming a Peace Officer.

The accused was held in custody pending a Nov. 27 bail appearance in Cornwall.

N. Dundas domestic situation

NORTH DUNDAS — A 23-year-old South Dundas man faces single charges of assault and mischief following a Nov. 26 altercation with his girlfriend at a North Dundas residence.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the domestic situation at just after 6 p.m., arresting the man. He’s accused of assaulting the female and damaging property at the home.

The accused was released and scheduled to appear Jan. 9 in Cornwall Court.
