MORRISBURG — Morrisburg hosted their Holiday Shop on Main event. The event featured several stores in Morrisburg whom held special sales in time for Christmas shopping. Christmas is a time of giving and the Markell family decided to do just that. During the one day event the family came dressed for the part as an elf, teddy bear, and of course Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Shoppers passing by were given the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Santa and do some carolling all to raise money for the local food bank.

Organizer Ashley First said, “This was our second year doing it and we had over 100 adults and children this year for pictures and joining in for carolling.”

This was the first year that they accepted food bank donations.

“We got a few canned food items and undisclosed amount of cash donations as the box was sealed until the food bank opened it,” she continued.

First also added, “On behalf of the Markell family we would like to thank Nation Valley News for coming out and everyone who joined in. We are hoping our numbers will grow in years to come as we would love to have this turn into an annual event and help the local non-profit food bank.”
