SD&G — A veteran SD&G OPP constable has been charged with Domestic Assault.

The Criminal Code charge stems from a Dec. 20 domestic incident occurring when the 17-year member of the OPP was off-duty, according to a press release issued by the OPP’s East Region’s headquarters.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the address at 9:07 p.m. that evening.

The accused constable has been put on administrative duties and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 9.

The specific township where the incident allegedly happened was not immediately made available, nor was the location of the courthouse that will hear the case. NVN has requested those details as they are usually provided with charges arising from domestic situations.

Update: Const. Tina Hunt of OPP East Region says the accused was officially charged Dec. 21 and is due in Cornwall court. Hunt says the location of the alleged crime won’t be narrowed down any further than SD&G.
