WINCHESTER — In celebration of their company’s 125th anniversary, each staff member at Grenville Mutual Insurance has been allotted $1,025 to give to an Eastern Ontario charity. The Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation recently benefited from that corporate largesse — specifically the Foundation’s Family Care Fund.
“We were so excited to find out that each staff member had the opportunity to donate dollars to a charity of our own choosing,” said Grenville Mutual staffer Otia Bates. “It feels good giving something back to local organizations in this way.”
Participating employees have the option of contributing to one cause or dividing the gift between two. Bates opted for the single donation, choosing WDMH as beneficiary because of the care she received at the hospital. “I had a tonsillectomy at WDMH and the staff did a great job taking care of me.”
The special initiative is said to comply with the spirit of Grenville Mutual’s belief in being a community-minded company with respect and empathy for others. The firm “encourages pitching in when needed, not caring who gets the credit,” the Foundation ntoes in a press release.
Grenville Mutual President/CEO Ross Lincoln says a large part of its community work is planned and coordinated at the grassroots level: “What better way to appreciate our people, and provide a rare and exciting opportunity for them to give back to a cause that means the most to them.”
WDMH Foundation Managing Director Kristen Casselman agrees. “We are so grateful to Otia for choosing WDMH, and to Grenville Mutual for their community spirit and support.”
