EASTERN ONTARIO — A January thaw arrived last night, briefly producing freezing rain that has triggered Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario to cancel school buses this morning.
This winter’s fourth bus cancellation day otherwise coincides with warming temperatures that have produced very good driving conditions on heavily salted asphalt roads this morning. On the upside, schools remain open — for any parents or caregivers with the opportunity to take the kids to school themselves.
Below, driving conditions on County Rd. 31 near Morrisburg this morning. The January thaw is forecasted to come to an end tomorrow evening.
