CASSELMAN — Russell County OPP are trying to catch an online Kijiji fraudster posing as somebody with pick-up trucks, winter tires and snow plows for sale in Casselman.
A “string of frauds” have been perpetrated by the culprit with no actual connection to the village, according to the detachment. After making contact over the popular buy-and-sell website, victims send deposits via Interac e-transfer for goods the scammer requests they pick up at an address in Casselman — only to find nothing — or offers to deliver and never shows up.
Russell County OPP are asking any other victims to come forward, or anyone else with information. Contact Detective Constable Vincent Oickle at firstname.lastname@example.org or 613-443-4499 or toll free at 1-888-310-1122. Or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
