Helmet-free snowmobiler becomes license-free at Russell R.I.D.E. stop

EMBRUN — A helmet-less Russell County snowmobiler had his driver’s license immediately suspended for three days after registering a blood alcohol concentration over 0.05 last week. The local detachment also reports the driver of the sled was charged for failing to wear a helmet.

The snowmobiler was caught at one of eight R.I.D.E. checks conducted by Russell County OPP last week.

The detachment responded to 296 calls for service during the week, Jan. 15-21, including seven domestic disputes, one assault, two thefts and 22 motor vehicle collisions.
