Four Bitcoin employees bound, one customer assaulted during robbery attempt yesterday

OTTAWA — One suspect has been charged and two remain at large, after a robbery attempt at a Bitcoin bank near Concourse Gate yesterday, shortly before 11:00 a.m.

The three suspects, armed with handguns, gained control of four Bitcoin employees and bound them. A fifth employee, hidden in another office and contacted police. One victim was struck to the head with a handgun and required additional medical attention at hospital.

The suspects fled empty-handed. The detained suspect was spotted running into a ravine by police, area north of Colonnade Rd. The two other suspects remain at large.

Jimmy St-Hilaire, 19, of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences: five counts of robbery with a firearm, five counts of point a firearm, five counts of forcible confinement, wearing a disguise, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a firearm while prohibited, possessing a weapon for committing an offence, and possessing loaded regulated firearm.

St-Hilaire will appear in court on January 24.
