Update: Fatal – Motor Vehicle Collision Victim Identified

NORTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers responded to the scene of a two vehicle fatal collision on January 23 on County Road 43, North Stormont shortly after 10 p.m.

Further investigation has indicated that a passenger vehicle was travelling westbound on County Road 43 North Stormont, when for reasons under investigation, the westbound passenger vehicle entered into the eastbound lane and struck an eastbound passenger vehicle.

The westbound lone occupant male driver, 69-year-old Leopold Cusson, of Gatineau, Que. was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

The lone occupant adult female driver, 34, of Cornwall, of the eastbound vehicle was transported to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

SD&G OPP, assisted by OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate.

Domestic Investigations

NORTH DUNDAS — An adult male caused damage to property within a North Dundas home on Jan. 26. Police responded to the investigate the domestic disturbance shortly after 3 p.m.

The 29-year-old adult male of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with mischief  .

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on March 6.

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

SOUTH STORMONT — A domestic altercation took place between a male and his girlfriend shortly before 7 p.m. on Jan. 26, on Highway 138 at a South Stormont residence. SD&G OPP officers reported that the male had assaulted the female.

A 39-year-old male from South Stormont, was arrested and is charged with assault.

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 6.

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Impaired Driving charge

NORTH DUNDAS — SD&G OPP officers located a vehicle after the report of a traffic complaint on County Road 43, North Dundas on Jan. 27, at 5 p.m. The investigation revealed that the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol.  

Shannon Lacombe-Gallagher, 34, of Carlsbad Springs, was arrested and is charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, and driving a motor vehicle while impaired.

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 15.   

Charged with Fail or Refuse to provide Sample

SOUTH DUNDAS —  SD&G OPP conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 28 on County Road 2, South Dundas, shortly before 12 a.m.

Police say their investigation led them to request a breath sample from the male driver, who refused and was arrested.

Police say that James Barr, 62, of South Dundas, is charged with: Fail or Refuse to provide Sample.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on February 15.

Excessive Speeds

NORTH DUNDAS — A vehicle was stopped at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28 travelling 134 km/h (80km/h zone) during a speed measuring enforcement on County Road 13, North Dundas. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven days in accordance to policy.

The 35-year-old male driver from St. Sauver, Que. was charged with stunt driving and for driving while under suspension.
