OTTAWA — An intuitive 13-year-old girl escaped a near kidnapping attempt near the Brewer Arena on Hopewell Avenue last Wednesday, January 24, shortly before 8:30 a.m.
The young girl told police that the suspect appeared to be arranging something in the back seat area of his car when he noticed her walking beside the parking lot alone. The suspect then entered his car and drove up to her and asked if she wanted to drive, when she refused he then told her he would drive her to the Eiffel Tower.
The young female ran away towards her school and alerted another student and their parent who were near the front door. The suspect entered his car and sped off out of the parking lot.
The suspect is described as Caucasian with tanned skin or Middle Eastern, approximately 50 years old, 5’8-5’10 tall, he had a short grey beard, yellow teeth and described as having a pot belly. He spoke English with an unknown accent. The suspect was wearing a grey toque and jacket. He was also wearing black gloves with grey lines which had the fingers cut out.
The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or grey 4 door sedan possibly a hatchback. The rear windows and possibly the front windows were tinted. There is also a hood ornament on the front. The interior could have dark seat covers on the front seats and there were paper fast food bags seen on the passenger floor.
Investigators would like to hear from any witnesses or from anyone who has experienced a similar incident.
