Man charged after uttering threats at Winchester business, drugs seized, impaired driver, super speeders

Threats

WINCHESTER — An employee at a business on Fred St. in Winchester was threatened by a male shortly after noon on February 16.

Pierre Lortie, 51, South Stormont, was arrested and is charged with uttering threats, according to the SD&G OPP.

He was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on April 3.

Drugs seized at traffic stop

SOUTH STORMONT — SDG OPP officers intercepted a vehicle during a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Stormont. A quantity of suspected marijuana was seized from two males shortly after 3 p.m.

According to the local detachment, two 18-year-old Ancaster men were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Both were released and are scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 12.

Update: The charges against both individuals were withdrawn on May 29, a court official confirmed in September. 

Impaired driver

SOUTH DUNDAS — A male was stopped shortly before 10 p.m. during a RIDE program on Feb. 17 on Carman Rd., South Dundas. Further investigation by SD&G OPP officers revealed the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Stephen Thompson, 53, of South Dundas, was arrested and is charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood and driving a motor vehicle while impaired, according to the local detachment.   

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on March 6.

Excessive speeds

SD&G — Several vehicles were intercepted during a speed measuring enforcement SD&G officers conducted on highways 401 and 417 in South Dundas and North Glengarry townships on Feb.17 and 18.

The vehicles were impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven days in accordance to policy.

A male driver, 41, from Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act) when caught driving 156km/h (100km/h zone) on the 401.

A male driver, 57, from Mississauga, was caught travelling 169km/h on the 401 (100km/h zone) and was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

Male driver, 25, from Virginia Water, United Kingdom was stopped by police after travelling 157km/h on the 401 (100km/h zone) and was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

A 48-year-old male driver from Ottawa was stopped travelling 155km/h on the 417 (100km/h zone) and was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

Impaired driver in South Dundas

SOUTH DUNDAS — A 20-year-old man faces impaired driving-related charges following a Feb. 12 traffic stop on County Rd. 8. Officers determined the motorist was under the influence of alcohol after pulling the vehicle over shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Jacob Solano, 20, of South Dundas, was arrested and charged.

He was released and scheduled to appear March 6 in Morrisburg court.

SOUTH STORMONT — A Florida man is accused of driving while impaired on Highway 401.

SD&G OPP officers stopped the motorist at just after 2:20 a.m. on Feb. 13 and determined him to be under the influence of alcohol. Eldon Gleason, 63, of Orlando, Florida, was arrested and charged.

 

He was released and scheduled to appear March 1 in Cornwall court.

Charged with impaired and possession

SOUTH DUNDAS — A Callander, Ont., man has a Feb. 27 court date in Cornwall after the SD&G OPP stopped a vehicle during the wee hours of Feb. 9 on County Rd. 2. Officers determined the motorist was under the influence of alcohol. They also seized a small quantity of marijuana.

 

Konnor Paquette, 22, of Callander was arrested and released. He faces impaired driving-related charges as well as a charge of possession of a controlled substance — under 30 grams — according to the detachment.
