Kin Club to commence unlimited provincial licensed lottery upon conclusion of current municipal lottery
RUSSELL — On Sunday, April 8, Pauline Smith was the weekly winner of the Catch the Ace lottery draw, winning $1,139.00. The Kin Club of Russell has been holding their “Catch The Ace” draw (lottery licence M789330) at Étienne Brûlé Brewery in Embrun over the last 29 weeks. The jackpot has grown to over $21,500.00 and the Kin Club has raised $33,500.00 for local charities with the draw. Money raised by the Kin Club under their current licence will be used to finance the Russell Reality Tour drug prevention/awareness program, youth sports equipment for the Russell Township Sports Dome and a donation to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
However, the Kin Club advises they will be soon reaching their limit under the current municipal licence. “We are allowed to sell a total of 20,000 tickets”, said current chair Bill McInnis who brought the idea to Russell. “To date we have sold 13,369 tickets, so we’ve decided that if sales continue as they are, we will hold some 3,000 tickets for the final week sometime in early May and continue to draw tickets until we’ve given the jackpot away.”
The Kin Club has applied for a provincial licence, which does not have any limits and will start it up once the current licence has concluded, when the Ace of Spades is revealed.
Draws are held 3:30 p.m. each Sunday at Étienne Brûlé Brewery. Tickets are available at the retail locations: Étienne Brûlé Brewery, Russell Foodland, Pronto Convenience in Russell, or at Pierre et Fils in Embrun. Tickets can also be purchased from Kin Club of Russell members.
