CHESTERVILLE — The rubber ducks didn’t splash down in this year’s Peter van Kessel Memorial Duck Race.

Due to inclement weather, a draw took place to settle the winners of the 2018 edition, once again organized by the Chesterville & District Rotary Club.

Tammy Shaver’s number was drawn for the first prize of $500, followed by Bayter Merkley ($100) and Archie Robinson ($50).

As flurries swirled beneath the Rotary Club-funded waterfront pavilion, Jacquie Sutherland — adult daughter of Rotarian Birket Foster — drew the first ticket from the drum, with the daughter of John and Sarah Meharg performing the honours on the final two tickets.

South Nation Conservation assisted the Club with a grant on this year’s event.

This article was edited to correct a spelling error in one of the draw winner names, an error that also appeared in the name written directly on the ticket.
