New online auction featured, see it here
DIXONS CORNERS — The Matilda Hall comes alive today with the sights, sounds and home-cooked aromas of the annual Timothy Christian School Bazaar.
Hipsters take note: Kale is on the menu during the event’s featured noon-hour hot lunch that always packs the hall with diners. Long before it was cool, folks of Dutch descent have savoured the leafy vegetable as the key ingredient in this afternoon’s featured dish, boerenkool — or ‘farmer’s kale’ — a traditional mashup with potatoes draped in smoked sausage and gravy. The menu always includes familiar stick-to-your-ribs fare as well — with chilli, hot dogs and lasagna.
A privately supported elementary school just outside, offering JK through Grade 8, Timothy Christian School is the last rural primary school operating in the Municipality of South Dundas.
The school’s fundraiser Bazaar also offers fun and games for children and a variety of items for sale. And this year’s auction includes a new twist: an online Facebook edition. See the items below, and participate by accessing the auction page.
