Tickets for Kin Club of Russell’s new lottery available June 1
RUSSELL — Janice Stewart was the lucky winner of the $30,000 jackpot in the Kin Club of Russell’s Catch the Ace lottery — drawn today (May 6) at Etienne Brule Brewery.
The winner was excited to receive her cheque to thunderous applause from the crowd that packed the establishment.
Yannick Demers won the weekly draw of $3,052, but it took another 18 draws until the Ace of Spades finally turned up in the very last envelope.
Tickets were completely sold out, bringing the total to 20,000 tickets sold, with $50,000 minus expenses going to local charities from the Kin Club of Russell.
The next Catch the Ace lottery will start on June 17. Tickets will be available at Pronto, Foodland, Etienne Brule Brewery and Pierre et Fils starting June 1. The new game falls under a provincial licence, allowing unlimited ticket sales unlike the previous municipal licence. Also coming on board for the new Catch the Ace lottery is Russell Minor Hockey, who will sell tickets and profit from their sales.
