Flees police

SOUTH DUNDAS — A motorist currently not allowed behind the wheel fled police after a Merkley Street traffic violation  — but didn’t get away.

The SD&G OPP says officers located the involved vehicle, which “failed to comply with the request and continued on until successfully intercepted.”

The May 10 incident unfolded shortly after 6 a.m.

Police say that Kyle Summers, 35, of South Dundas is charged with: Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer; Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle; Possession of a controlled substance; and Drive While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act).

The accused was released to appear June 5 in Morrisburg court.

 

Jewellery stolen in home break-in

SOUTH DUNDAS — Jewellery was stolen during a break-in at a Lakeshore Drive home.

The house was forcibly entered sometime on May 10, according to the SD&G OPP. Reported to the detachment on the morning of May 13, the crime remains under police investigation.

 

Super speeder on County Rd. 43

SDG — Eight motorists have fallen afoul of Ontario’s stunt-driving law in SDG this month after topping the speed limit by 50 km/h or more. In turn, that triggered the on-the-spot seizure of their drivers licences and vehicles for a week.

Among the ‘super speeders’ was an Ottawa woman travelling at 134 km/h on County Rd. 43 in North Dundas. Officers pulled her over at just after 9 p.m. on May 13.

The majority of the other apprehended motorists were stopped on Highway 401. A couple of others were pulled over on township roads in South Glengarry.

 

Accused of impaired driving

SOUTH GLENGARRY — A County Rd. 34 traffic stop led to the arrest of a man for impaired driving. SD&G OPP officers stopped the involved vehicle May 11 at 1:15 p.m.

Police say that South Glengarry resident Brian McCuaig, 67, is charged with exceeding the .08 percent blood-alcohol limit.

He was released to appear May 29 in Cornwall court.

 

SOUTH GLENGARRY — SD&G OPP officers arrested a man May 12 for impaired driving on Highway 401.

Officers stopped the involved vehicle at just after midnight.

Police say 31-year-old Ian Thomas of Akwesasne is charged with exceeding the .08 percent blood-alcohol limit, as well as driving while impaired.

He was released to appear May 29 in Cornwall court.  

 

SOUTH DUNDAS — A Froats Rd. traffic stop led to the May 13 arrest of a man for impaired driving.

Officers stopped the motorist at 6:30 p.m.

Police say that Timothy Hubert, 41, is charged with exceeding the .08 percent blood-alcohol limit, driving while impaired, and driving while under suspension.

The South Dundas resident was released to appear June 5 in Morrisburg court.  

 

NORTH DUNDAS — A County Rd. 43 traffic stop led to the May 13 arrest of a man for impaired driving.

Officers stopped the involved vehicle at 9:30 p.m.

Police say that Alexander Robertson, 69, is charged with exceeding the .08 percent blood-alcohol limit, and driving while impaired.

The North Glengarry resident was released to appear June 5 in Morrisburg court.

 

Domestic assault in North Stormont

NORTH DUNDAS — A 32-year-old North Dundas man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, along with damaging and stealing some of her property.

Two charges of assault plus single counts of mischief and theft under $5,000 were laid after SD&G OPP officers responded to a May 10 domestic situation occurring shortly before 1:40 a.m. at a North Dundas address.

He was released to appear May 22 in Cornwall court.

 

Domestic assault with a weapon

NORTH DUNDAS — A 41-year-old North Dundas woman is accused of assaulting her husband with a weapon and damaging his property.

Two charges of assault with a weapon plus single counts of assault and mischief were laid after SD&G OPP officers responded to a May 10 domestic situation in North Dundas.

She was released to appear June 12 in Cornwall court.

 

Domestic assault in North Stormont

NORTH STORMONT — A 33-year-old North Stormont man is accused of assaulting his wife and damaging her property.

Three charges of assault plus single counts of mischief and criminal harassment were laid after SD&G OPP officers responded to a May 12 domestic situation occurring 6:40 a.m. at a North Stormont address.

He was released to appear May 22 in Cornwall court.

STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY — The SD&G OPP reports investigating several incidents after responding to 259 calls for service between May 10 and May 14, 2018.
