BROCKVILLE — Highway 401 westbound between Prescott and Maitland remains closed as first responders continue to deal with a crashed bus carrying tourists from China.
The vehicle was westbound with 37 passengers aboard when it drove off the highway around 2:30 p.m., striking a rock cut on the north side of the 401, according to Grenville County OPP.
Multiple individuals were hurt, including four transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Brockville General Hospital reported receiving five critically injured patients on its Twitter and Facebook feeds.
An investigation is ongoing into the crash that, according to CBC reports, drew ambulances from all over Eastern Ontario.
