Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers ball hockey tourney raises $9,000

WINCHESTER —  Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers’ 4th Annual Kids Ball Hockey Tournament scored a total of $9,000 raised for the anti-crime tipster program last Saturday.

Over 250 players making up 24 teams participated in the event. The youngsters also tried out the Fire Obstacle Courses and grocery cart races between games. The day also saw Sparky the Fire Dog squeezed into a cart to take on some kids in front of many onlookers who enjoyed the show.

Laughs, beautiful weather and some great hockey filled the June 9 event at the Winchester Arena.

The coordinator for Seaway Valley Crimes Stoppers, SD&G OPP Constable Tylor Copeland, says he expresses thanks to all participants, volunteers and sponsors of the event, including a special thanks to Winchester Foodland and McDougall Insurance for their “excellent support.

“Without all involved the success would not have been achieved!”
