Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, as the eldest child of the late Arie Rietveld and the late Wilhelmina Rietveld (née van Leeuwen). Henny was an excellent student, completing her high school in 1954, and successfully graduating with a Diploma of Analyst from the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society for scientific chemical research in 1958. In Canada, she worked at Brockville Chemicals, and briefly in Ottawa and Prescott. During this time, she met Eduard Donkersteeg and they married in Brockville on June 8, 1963. Gone to be with her Lord and Saviour, Henny passed away peacefully at Brockville General Hospital. Beloved wife of Eduard Donkersteeg.
