RUSSELL — The Kin Club of Russell finished its last meeting of the year with a bang — adding another four new members at the final meeting of the season to hit a whopping total of 48.

Overall Club numbers have surged by 21 in 2017-18, nearly doubling the count of last October when total membership stood at 27.

The strong finish to the year included recognition at the recent District Convention in Cornwall, where the Russell Club’s Sports Dome initiative won the service project award for its efforts. The Sports Dome will now go on to compete at the national level for the best project of the year in Canada.

Bolstered by all those new bodies, the Russell Kin Club is highlighting the slate of projects it has lined up for this fall:

• The continuation of its new Catch the Ace lottery draw, which started June 17th; tickets
are available at Pierre et Fils, Etienne Brule Brewery, Russell Foodland and Pronto;

• Its first District convention — the District Fall Leadership Conference in
Russell on Nov. 3;

• The Dr. Darrell Menard Roast (Roasted Doc à le Menard), set for Dec. 1 at the
Embrun Community Centre; and

• Starting the ‘Welcome to Russell’ signs for the east and west entrances into the town.
