AVONMORE — The steamy heatwave should be no sweat for participants in the annual 5 and 10-km ‘Run to Get it Done’ that kicks off July 1st festivities at North Stormont Place in Avonmore. It’s the healthy start to a fun time of Canada Day celebrations in the township.

A slew of activities are planned through the day at the Avonmore site, and the jogging theme continues as youngsters enjoy the “colour run” around the fairgrounds.  See the full schedule below.

A member of the Avonmore Recreation and Athletics Association, organizer of the event, also reminds readers on Facebook of no canteen service during this year’s fireworks show. Adds Sarah MacMillan: “So if you need snacks while you “oooh and ahhhh” grab some at Barkley’s Store before 4 pm! We will have a water bottle filling station.”

Children enjoyed last year’s “colour run,” as seen in the footage above.
