‘Russell’ up some Canada Day fun in the township

RUSSELL TOWNSHIP — This community hosts a slew of activities on July 1st, kicking off with a hearty breakfast and getting well exercised with a parade and volleyball tournament.

Organized by the Russell Lions Club and the Russell Agricultural Society, the activities are generally centred on the village of Russell fairgrounds. Breakfast starts the day at the Legion and the day concludes with fireworks at Russell High School.

And don’t by dissuaded by the forecasted high temperatures, as the fire department will set up a Canada Day sprinkler to beat the heat centre at the fairgrounds. Other cooling centres have been established as well.
