County Rd. 2 in South Glengarry closed after 77-year-old cyclist hit

Dies in hospital

SOUTH GLENGARRY — A section of County Rd. 2 has been closed after a passenger vehicle fatally struck a 77-year-old man riding a bicycle during noon hour today.

The cyclist was transported to hospital in critical condition but died later this afternoon, according to the SD&G OPP. The detachment confirmed the man’s death around 3:45 p.m. — almost four hours after the 12:05 p.m. collision, which remains under investigation.

Officers are currently at the scene and have diverted traffic from County Rd. 2 between Rae and Purcell roads.

The driver of the motorized vehicle was not injured.
