MERRICKVILLE — Fire consumed a garage near Merrickville yesterday, prompting the closure of County Rd. 43 between County Rd. 23 and Bolton Rd. for several hours as crews battled the blaze that afternoon.
The OPP reopened the roadway shortly after 5 p.m.
Chesterville resident Lisa Boucher happened to be travelling in the area at the time and managed to get photos of the billowing smoke while headed toward the detour route around the closed section of road. The fire “looked pretty aggressive when I got detoured,” she wrote via Messenger.
