RUSSELL — A four-vehicle collision on Saturday outside Embrun took the life of an 86-year-old man.

Russell County OPP have identified the deceased as Jean Guertin. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene of the July 14 crash — occurring shortly after 10 a.m. on St-Guillame Rd. — despite the concerted efforts of police, fire and ambulance personnel to revive him. The Russell resident is described as one of the involved motorists.

Six other people suffering non-life threatening injuries were transported by ambulance to Ottawa hospitals.

The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of OPP Traffic Collision Investigators and the Office of the Chief Coroner.
