MOUNTAIN — There was tons of carnival fun to be had at House of Lazarus (HOL) during their Carnival Fun Day, July 24.

The event and games were free to anyone.

Cathy Ashby, Executive Director of HOL said, “It’s really just a way of giving back to the community.”

Youth from the Dundas Youth Centre (DYC), Winchester, acted as ‘carnies’ running the various games for the event.

DYC Youth Leader Kaitlin Herfkens told Nation Valley News that the children would also be participating in a herb and oil workshop. “They will be learning how to make dressing and how to use it.” she said.

Ashby, added that the herbs were fresh from the garden and the youth planted them themselves.

Hotdogs and hamburgers were served from 11:30 to 1:30. Cotton candy, popcorn and drinks were also available for purchase.
