CORNWALL — A reminder that effective as of March 1, door-to-door sales for many products and services are banned in Ontario. The Cornwall Chamber has been advised that an out of town firm carried out such a solicitation.

“While this may have been an isolated incident, the Chamber would like to remind area consumers that door-to-door encounters for a number of products and services are no longer permitted in Ontario,” says Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser.

Products that can no longer be offered or sold, door to door include furnaces, air conditioners and related products along with water heaters, softeners and treatment devices, and duct cleaning services. “It’s important to note,” continued Strasser, “if a consumer contacts a business and asks them to come to their home with the notion of purchasing a produce or services, this ban would not apply”.

“If consumers would like to find out more about the new regulations, they can visit: https://www.ontario.ca/page/door-door-sales-and-home-service-contracts#section-1 or call, 1-800-889-9768 toll free,” advises Strasser.
