Rotarians round up OPP Chorus for another Chesterville performance, Sept. 28

The OPP Chorus returns to Chesterville on Sept. 28.

CHESTERVILLE — The Ontario Provincial Police Chorus returns to Chesterville on behalf of local Rotarians on Friday, Sept. 28, at Christ Church United on Water Street.

Sometimes known as the OPP ‘Choir,’ the Chorus last performed here four years ago during a well-received concert at the same venue. Their 2018 appearance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Alliston-based group puts on a “fantastic” show, Chesterville Rotary Club Secretary Betty Vanden Bosch told her compatriots at the Club’s meeting inside the McCloskey Hotel earlier this week.

The talented squad of singers draws from community volunteers to fill its roster each season. Current and retired Ontario Provincial Police offices and civilian employees of the force tend to make up the Chorus — which is currently looking for new members, according to a recent OPP Facebook post. Known for performing at nursing homes, church and community events, fundraisers and fairs, the Chorus also takes part in the annual Ontario Police Memorial and Canadian Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Service events in Toronto and Ottawa.

The audience at Christ Church United can expect a “broad repertoire of music, including gospel, Broadway hits, sacred and non-sacred, pops, anthems and ballads,” says the Chorus’s website.  They switch to Christmas music during the Yuletide season.

Buy tickets now at $10 apiece — from Betty Vanden Bosch (613 -448-2359 ) and other Rotarians, the Pharmacy in Chesterville or at the door on Sept. 28.
