WINCHESTER — On the last Tuesday of each month, the Activity team at Dundas Manor organizes a special celebration for residents who have a birthday that month. In addition to the party itself, the decorations extend into the lobby and main gathering spaces. It’s an opportunity to celebrate together and honour each resident’s special day.
Each month, a different theme is developed – from polka dots to Anne of Green Gables. A different team member is assigned to take the lead on the party. In August, something fishy happened when team member Jana Barkley came up with the theme of ‘Under the Sea’. The Manor was filled with fish, seashells, and even a few mermaids. There were octopus table decorations, and of course, a whale of a cake!
“It’s important to think outside the box and try something different and fun,” notes Jennifer Hill, Activity Director. “Our team is very creative and take that extra time to make it special for our residents. In doing so, it enriches the lives of our residents by inspiring happiness and joy! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next month.”
