MORRISBURG — Renegade Bass Tour (RBT), the Canadian leader in bass fishing tournaments, will be coming to Morrisburg, for the Renegade Bass Tour Canadian Championship Classic.
The 2018 season has seen 76 of Canada’s best fishing teams competing in four-regular season qualifying events. The 76 teams have been whittled down to the top 40 qualifying for the two-day Classic, September 8-9 on the St. Lawrence River. The 40 teams will battle for the first-place prize of a Bass Cat/Mercury boat and motor package valued at over $90,000.
This will be the 18th time that RBT has held an event on the St. Lawrence River, making it one of the most popular event locations in the Tour’s history. Morrisburg has always been one of the best stops on the Tour as well, with big crowds attending and great hospitality at each event.
This year promises to be the biggest yet and spectators can enjoy the live weigh-ins that will be taking place at the Morrisburg Town Launch on Sept. 8 at 4pm and Sept. 9 at 3pm. There will be free fishing gear and prizes for children and lots of big fish action to take in on the stage! If you love fishing, this is the place to see the best anglers in Canada on one of the best fishing destinations in the world.
“We take pride in providing the best bass fishing events in Canada for our amazing anglers and sponsors,” said Mike Vandenberg, RBT President. “The 23rd Classic will be taking place on one of the best smallmouth bass fisheries in the world at a peak time in the year, so the weights should be amazing! The town of Morrisburg and the big crowds will be the perfect setting to host the biggest fishing tournament in Canada. We are extremely excited for the event and encourage everyone to come out to the weigh-ins.”
RBT is Canada’s top tournament-fishing organization, providing anglers of all skill levels the opportunity to compete for hundreds of thousands in prize money in 2018 across three circuits; the Renegade Bass Tour, the Thousand Islands Open, and the RBT Curado Opens. Headquarted in Ottawa, Ontario, RBT conducts 10 bass-fishing tournaments annually across Eastern Ontario. RBT tournament fishing can be seen on the World Fishing Network and Waypoint TV, with RBTtv running 13 episodes in both 2017 and 2018.
