CHESTERVILLE — Coco Paving says the detours around Chesterville’s downtown core will be in place until 8 p.m. as crews repair a sewer line at the intersection of Queen and Main Street North. The work is part of the multi-million-dollar overhaul of Queen Street West.
Please don’t let the aggressive “local traffic only” sign and barrier at County Rd. 43 and County Rd. 7 (south of the village) dissuade you from shopping in downtown Chesterville today. Although it advises “local traffic only,” it’s the only way for out-of-towners, approaching from the south, to reach favourite King Street and Main Street North hotspots as usual. The MacEwen gas station is open and pumping gas as well.
The video clip at the top of the article shows the work at the affected corner, with a glimpse of newly poured foundation for the replacement MacEwen gas station plus another excavator at work on that site.
