CORNWALL — Vagabond Theatre of Cornwall presents two One-Act plays as their fall production on October 26-27 and Nov 2-3, at 7:30 pm and a matinee performance at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday October 28. Both productions were written by Mat Kelly, an area playwright from Crysler.

Theft of a Venetian Nude with the Spider Monkey in the Foreground by Mat Kelly and Vic Bakker, is a play about a young Canadian journalist who is in over his head as he interviews Gina Maria Sophia Del Torre, once Europe’s greatest seductress and an art thief. Needless to say, the journalist has no idea of what he has walked into!

The play is directed by Dan Youmelle, and produced by Dan Youmelle and Bruce Manzer.  It stars Bethany Lynn Krebs as the seductress, Gina Del Torre; and Steven Torrance as the journalist, Quinn Hallahan.

Theft of a Venetian Nude with Spider Monkey in the Foreground will also be presented at the Eastern Ontario Drama Festival (EODL) One-Act Play Festival hosted by Domino Theatre in Kingston, Nov 9-11.

The second play is Talking Carrots at the End of Act One by Mat Kelly, a play about a playwright trying to write the great modern tragedy but who loses control of his muse as well as the main character.

This play is directed by Nik Skidders and co-produced by Dan Youmelle and Bruce Manzer; it features Cameron Brunet as Cameron, Ashley Harper as Paula, Jefferson Harper as B.W. and Christopher McGillis as Ben Westwood.

The plays will be presented at St John’s Presbyterian Church Hall, 24 Second Street East, Cornwall and are presented by special arrangement with Mat’s Mysteries (matsmysteries.com) of Crysler.

Tickets are $20 per person and available at Scotiabank, 960 Brookdale Ave. or through Eventbrite.ca .
