Charges for three after drugs, weapons seized in South Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT — Three South Stormont residents face a number of charges after an Oct. 4 police raid at a County Rd. 18 property.

Marijuana, hash oil, long guns, ammunition, brass knuckles and Canadian currency were recovered when officers with the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU) and SD&G OPP executed the Controlled Drugs and Substances Search Warrant, according to the local detachment.

The SD&G OPP report arresting 22-year-old Melissa Brooks, 27-year-old Brandon Meldrum, and 58-year-old Ralph Meldrum — all of South Stormont.

Brooks is charged with: Produce a control substance; Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by crime – over $5,000; Possession of a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking; Possession of controlled substance; Unauthorized possession of a firearm; and two counts of Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

Brandon Meldrum is charged with: Produce a controlled substance; Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by crime – over $5000; Possession of a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking; Possession of controlled substance; Unauthorized possession of a firearm; Unauthorized possession of a weapon, and two counts of Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

Ralph Meldrum is charged with: Produce a control substance; Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by crime – over $5000; Possession of a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking; Possession of controlled substance; Unauthorized possession of a firearm; and two counts of Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

All three accused were released to appear Nov. 15 in Cornwall court.
