RUSSELL — About 50 family members of the Bols family, along with some friends, continued their unique way of giving thanks this past Thanksgiving weekend. They held the Running of the Bols fundraising event to support Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) – raising $1,755. Since 2009, the Bols Family have organized four runs, raising more than $8,300!
This special family has lived in the area since 1959. There are 12 siblings – half of which were born at WDMH. Many of their children were born here too. They say they are very grateful for the care they have all received over the years.
Participants of all ages completed a five kilometre trek on the Russell Nature Trail. They walked, ran, biked and roller-bladed along the trail. Funds were raised through pledges and donations. It was a cool day, but the rain held off until the run was over. Then they all had their Thanksgiving meal together.
“This is a special family. They tell me that they are very thankful to have WDMH nearby,” explains Cindy Peters, Manager of Direct Mail & Events. “They support local health care, so it will be there for future generations and we are very grateful for their support.”
