CHESTERVILLE — A man was transported to hospital after he was found lying unresponsive on the side of the South Nation River near the Chesterville Dam late yesterday afternoon.

Residents reported the area around the dam was taped off for a period of time as first responders and police dealt with the situation.

SD&G OPP Const. Tylor Copeland confirmed the detachment responded 3:15 p.m. to a reported “unresponsive male located on the bank of the Nation River.  The male was transported to hospital in critical condition as he was in medical distress.”

Copeland added that no further information would be released “as it’s not a criminal matter.”
