Man dead after gunshots heard

CLARENCE-ROCKLAND — A 75-year-old man is dead following reported gunshots at a Clarence-Rockland residence today.

Another man is in police custody in connection with the incident, according to Russell County OPP.

Clarence-Rockland Fire Services and Russell Paramedics also responded to the address.

The man who lost his life was pronounced dead after being transported to hospital.

The Russell County Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP East Region Support Team and the Long Sault Forensic Identification Unit — under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave MacDonald of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) — are investigating.

The OPP asks anyone with information about this incident to contact police at 1-888-310-1122. Those wishing anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
