73-year-old man charged in Clarence-Rockland murder

CLARENCE-ROCKLAND — A 73-year-old Clarence-Rockland man is accused of murdering of another man here in his 70s.

Russell County OPP say that Richard Fortin, 73, has been arrested on a First Degreee Murder charge, following an investigation into the death of 75-year-old Clarence-Rockland resident Paul Jobin, two days ago.

Jobin was transported to hospital and pronounced dead after police responded to reported gunshots at a private residence on Nov. 6.

His accused killer is due in L’Original court on Nov. 13.

The Russell County OPP Crime Unit continues to investigate with the assistance of the OPP East Region Support Team and the Long Sault Forensic Identification Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave MacDonald of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

The detachment asks anyone with information about this incident to contact police at 1-888-310-1122. Those wanting anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) and may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
