RUSSELL — Saturday, December 1, the Kin Club of Russell held another successful fundraising gala, this time for the recently retired from family practice, Dr. Darrell Menard. Dr Menard was roasted and with his blessing, funds raised at the gala will be reserved for a future aquatic project.
“This man has done so much for the community and this fundraiser proved exactly how much he means to our area” said Doug Anthony, Event Chair.
Roasters fire it up
The stage was set as a doctor’s reception area with patients who were waiting so long, they turned into a skeleton. There were many, many laughs had at the expense of Dr. Menard; the audience was captivated by those invited to roast Doc Menard. Several standing ovations for the accomplishments in this man’s life.
“Another successful fundraising event by the Kin Club of Russell. The hall was beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was dynamic. Dr. Menard is one of the amazing people in our community, and it was my honour to help recognize him,” said Mayor Pierre Leroux.
Corporate Sponsorships and Live Auction
Auctioneer Shaun Lalonde captivated the audience with an outstanding variety of live auction items. The Kin Club of Russell is extremely proud of our corporate sponsors coming through once again as they always do in this generous community.
Dr. Darrell Menard and his lovely wife Janet were presented with gifts and a “graduation” certificate from the Kin Club of Russell for surviving his roast. Over $25,000 was raised for a future aquatic project.
The Kin Club of Russell is proud to bring community projects to reality with its outstanding successes since its inception, including raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Sports Dome.
