WINCHESTER — Members of the Seventh Council of the Township of North Dundas were officially inaugurated into their positions last night in front of a packed Council Chambers gallery.
Watch the entire ceremony (below) as Tony Fraser (mayor), Al Armstrong (deputy mayor) and councillors John Thompson, Gary Annable and Tyler Hoy are introduced, sworn in and make their first remarks of the political term. The still image on the video shows Fraser reading his oath as mayor, witnessed by Clerk Jo-Anne McCaslin and OPP Constable Jim Blanchette.

Councillor John Thompson poses on inauguration night in Winchester with wife Chrisy and Doug Thompson and wife Mary Lynne. The younger Thompson has a way to go yet to catch up to his Osgoode-based uncle’s 30-plus years on council in Ottawa, a period that also included a brief stint as acting mayor of the Nation’s Capital.
