Cuff the mayor January 19 — for a cause

Mayor Tony Fraser will replace Winchester Foodland proprietor Dan Pettigrew (shown in the 2018 video footage above) as the one laden with handcuffs in the 2019 edition of ‘Cuffed for a Cause.’

WINCHESTER — A Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers fundraiser is set to slap the shackles on North Dundas Mayor Tony Fraser on Saturday, Jan. 19.

The ‘Cuffed up for a Cause’ event at Winchester Foodland will see the township’s leader arrested, placed in a Coke case jail cell, and clapped with 250 sets of handcuffs.

Coinciding with Crime Stoppers Month, justice will be served on Fraser at 10 a.m., ending only when adequate donations free the mayor from every set of cuffs. A $10 contribution removes one pair.

But Fraser won’t be alone in the grocery-store slammer. During the next two weeks, SD&G OPP Const. Tylor Copeland will make “arrests” of other local business owners and community celebrities in Winchester. If one of your friends is hauled in, make sure to fill their “Bail Bucket ” to spring them from the pop-case clink.

Every $10 donation also gets you entered into a raffle to win some great prizes.

The mayor is begging for your help as he doesn’t want to spend the entire day in handcuffs!
