NORTH GLENGARRY — A repeat gas thief in a red Hyundai Veloster has “filled ‘er up” and driven away from the same fueling station multiple times over the last two years.
The SD&G OPP say the suspect’s modus operandi is always the same: He pulls up at the pump furthest from the store at the County Rd. 20 Highland Esso during a busy time and fuels up without looking toward the cameras. Apparently lacking the funds for coffee and donuts as well, he hops back into the sports coupe and exits past the Tim Hortons drive-through, around back of the store, then out the north entrance.
Standing 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 7 inches tall, the alleged pilferer wears a hoodie and ball cap.
The incidents to date have occurred between January 2017 and December 2018.
The latest model of the Korean-made Veloster consumes about 8.2 litres of gas per 100 km, according to online information from manufacturer Hyundai.
