CORNWALL — It is a prestigious affair that pays tribute to firms and individuals from across the Cornwall region that have made a positive difference.
It is the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards and Citizen of the Year banquet. For more than 30 years it has recognized the City’s business best and for close to 50 years, it has honoured Cornwall’s outstanding citizens.
Award candidate nominations come from across the Cornwall region. “We’re pleased with the community response and we want to remind people that the deadline for nominations is Friday, January 18,” says Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “Anyone who has a worthy candidate in mind should get their nominations in a soon as possible.”
“Nominations can be submitted, on line,” continues Strasser. “People need only to visit the Chamber site at cornwallchamber.com, click on member services, and then the Business Excellence link. There, they will find the nomination form and can complete and submit it electronically.”
The Chamber notes that some of the best candidates often come from a firm’s employees. “The staff at area businesses and industries get to know their superiors and quickly spot those who are a ‘cut-above’,” states Strasser.
Once the nominations have all been received, they will be reviewed by an independent selection committee that determines the winners in each category. Those winners will be honoured at the Awards banquet that takes place on Saturday, February 23 at the NAV Centre. Tickets are now available and can be purchased at the Chamber office.
