WINCHESTER — The Dundas Agriculture Community Groups are set to host the bi-annual Dundas Farmer’s Agriculture Hall-of-Fame Inductions & Charity Gala April 6th at the Joel Steele Community Centre. The evening is a joint effort between all of the area’s agriculture-related volunteer organizations with an objective to celebrate contributions of agricultural leaders while helping local charities at the same time.
While the event has taken place every two years since 2013, it is only the second year of inductions to the Agricultural Hall-of-Fame, which had its inaugural year in 2017. All organizations and individuals have been invited to submit nominations of their peers, while considering contributions to the agriculture community within and outside Dundas County, as well as their work for the community in general, personal development and home business development.
An independent selection committee consisting of representatives across the county will review all nominations to the Hall.
The gala will continue to hold true to its roots and tradition of raising money for local charities and three organizations have been selected as the primary recipients for 2019. Community Food Share is a natural choice as its goals to provide food and nutrition to Dundas County align with those of agriculture. In addition, the evening will set-out to raise funds for Naomi House and Nor-Dun Senior’s Centre, both of which are seeking assistance for well-needed renovations.
In the past, gala attendees generously supported similar renovations for the Dundas County Hospice.
“Dundas County has a strong agricultural presence that benefits everyone who lives here and there are so many people who have made that possible. It’s crucial we recognize and thank those individuals and this evening is one small step we’re taking to do so,” said Jackie Pemberton, OFA Director and chair of this year’s gala. “It’s guaranteed to be an entertaining and historical evening and we’re inviting all members of the community to join us.”
The 2019 dinner and celebration features a catered meal by AJ’s catering, followed by presentations of the inductees, as well as live and silent auctions to raise money for the recipient charities. The April 6 event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person, with tables of 10 available. Find more information at www.dundasagriculture.com.
