LONG SAULT — Cornwall Motor Speedway turned the page on the 2018 racing season as over 225 guests gathered Jan. 26 at the South Stormont Community Hall to celebrate their champions.

Among awarded racers, two local earned the Rookie of the Year in their respective classes: Tyler Givoge of Russell (358 Modified) and Eric Jean-Louis (Pro-Stock).

Givoge, who drives #28 machine for TAS Racing Team, proudly states:”It’s really cool that I was able to win the Rookie of the Year awards in the Sportsman division a few years ago and now in the Modified class.” The Russell resident attributes his on-track success to the support that he gets from his family, his friends, sponsors and the TAS Racing crew.

As for Jean-Louis, the prize recognizes racing efforts at Cornwall Motor Speedway. The Casselman Heating and Cooling self-employed operator drove the #9 Pro-Stock racecar. “I‘ll be back in action in May with a total new look,” he said.

The local DIRTcar racing season resumes in May.
