INGLESIDE — A 54-year-old male was transported to hospital Feb. 1 after collapsing and becoming unresponsive outside a group of storefronts on Dickinson Driven shortly after 8 p.m.

The male was later pronounced deceased. A post-mortem is being conducted to determine cause of death. No foul play is suspected at this point, according to the SD&G OPP.

The detachment initially confirmed the incident occurred in a restaurant. But Const. Tylor Copeland later corrected the location to clarify the man was found outside an area of a few storefronts in that vicinity.

“It was an unfortunate event that had nothing to do with any business,” he said.

As an apparent health-related matter, such a call usually wouldn’t be acknowledged in a police press release, he added. However, the detachment released information in this case  “because it occurred in a public space,” he said.

This article was edited to include Const. Copeland’s correction.
