EASTERN ONTARIO — The provincial utility says it’s bracing for potential power outages, with central and eastern Ontario “hardest hit” from forecasted high winds this evening and into tomorrow.
In a post on its website, Hydro One says its new “outage prediction tool” suggests the conditions could cause hundreds of outages across that area.
“In anticipation, our crews are being moved into position to assess damage and quickly and safely restore power to affected customers. An estimated time of restoration will be determined for each outage once damage has been assessed.
“We prioritize emergencies and restoration in such a way that brings power back to the largest number of customers in the shortest period of time.”
Update: High winds arrived this morning, but so far, the Hydro One website shows only a handful of small outages.
